Hi, I am Kirti- a timid and short heighted girl with tall confidence and hobbies varying from North to South pole- from Jaipur on her way to become a Doctor real soon.
I was born in Delhi- raised outside India for a couple of years, changing schools, and then brought back to my hometown – The Pink City, to pursue my schooling in Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School. My time there was just as royal as the name of the school is.
You can imagine by now, the hustle-bustle I got used to as a child, right? Well, it made me one hell of a globetrotter for sure. I am the kind of person who has always been seeking change gracefully because it is the only constant and variable I have seen in my life so far.
Being addicted to music from a very young age, and then being gifted a soft voice was just like adding masala to plain sabzis.
I love singing, and loved it since “bachpan” and was highly appreciated for the same. Winning prizes and hearts without any professional training became my achievement. Adding to this, I had corners in my heart for Nature and helping others. Soon after school, I juggled through cities, entrance exams, tide of sundry emotions and finally got into Medical college, JNUIMSRC.
It goes without saying, college life is sooooo different than school and specially when you go from all girls’ school to a co-ed one. I faced hardships, just like any other student does and it becomes a big deal specially when you are a Medical Student- always jotting notes and running from hospital to college; back and forth every day. Despite all, I continue to keep my passion for singing alive while also unfolding suppressed hobbies like Debating, Anchoring, etc.
My course has taught me about Human body and its illnesses so far, but the people around me gave me a crash course on Human Behaviour, Psychology and How to be kind to myself.
I like to believe that I am very different and have always been. I enjoy going to parties, but I prefer silent nights. I love to learn, I love to respect and be grateful for tiniest of things. And so, in a nutshell I stood out in unimaginable ways from people around me- falling into the perception that I have a generation gap, and maybe I do BUT it is okayyyyyy.
With all the new beginnings, new hardships and new experiences, I shifted my focus onto beautiful things around me realising that this time will never knock my door again. I invested my energy into learning, and solving problems of the world in subtle way.
And that is how, I established KIRAAS. (@simply_kiraas) Kirti Sharma – Kiraas
My beautiful initiative helping me and Mother nature, heal. Like I said, I always had a knack for environment. The more I learned about the exploitation by humans, the more passionate I grew to help it heal.
Soon after, I started making Vegan, Plastic Free, 100% Organic, Sustainable, Ecofriendly and Pocket friendly products for myself in my free time, and soon for others. I realised how powerful we as consumers can be. And how our conscious choices can benefit the Earth and our bodies.
As I expanded my initiative, I also began putting 20% of my earnings into planting trees and giving back to nature. It was in no time that my products were being sold in 212 cities of India and ,guess what? All achieved single handedly with pocket money collected for years.
My tiny steps were mocked by many, and were equivocally appraised by many after a while. I am grateful for all of it. Because, now I know that if you have a zeal for something, nothing can stop you but only you, yourself. And that, keep going for what your heart feels is right.
My passion works as a therapist for me: as an emollient for my soul while my course continues to give me what I love taking- knowledge. I continue to learn the wonders of modern medicine but I also schedule out time to teach others about sustainable living through sessions and workshops. And I also continue to fuel my passion for singing through open mics and online competitions.
If there could be few things, I’d have to say to you, Dear reader; then it is that, be grateful for what you have right now. Be kind to yourself
even if you are different. The world homes 7.8 billion homosapiens and so many plants and animals and we are all unique in our own way.
Choose what makes you happy and do it, no matter what. Trust me, it is worth it. And if no one stands for you, I promise I will be standing to support you somewhere in this enigmatic universe.
Do contribute to my little initiative whenever you can. Till then, Thank you for knowing a bit about me. Hope to learn about you too.
