Change has inevitably been the only constant in my life. Coming from an Air Force background, I’ve moved around from place to place throughout. 12 years of schooling and I’ve been to 9 different schools! These constant shifts and the “fauji life” has made me the person that I am today! Growing up in a very disciplined household and being exposed to so many different cultures and places has helped me grow immensely.
Spending 2 years in Paris when I was just in the 2nd Grade and then doing my entire high school (9th to 12th) from Israel, are definitely two very vital points in my life that helped me shape my personality and confidence.
4 years in Israel, helped me grow from a shy and introverted person to someone who is confident about herself and could comfortably mingle in a social gathering.
Currently in my Second year at FLAME University, Pune, Majoring in Digital Marketing and Minoring in Entrepreneurship.
Saher Gandhioke Flame University Humans of CampusI came to college with very mixed feelings, but after being a foreigner for the past 4 years, it felt amazing to be back home. To meet my fellow Hindustanis and make some really good friends, I finally felt loved and at home!
First year of college was definitely a roller coaster ride! Kindled some amazing friendships while also struggling with some.
However, what kept me going, were the sports I played. As a young kid, I was always someone who loved the outdoors and played any sport that I got the opportunity to. It was in Israel that I started playing football, basketabll and baseball seriously. I was part of the school team and represented my school in various tournaments in Europe.
I carried this forward and got selected for both the Football and Basketball teams in College. While a number of people told me I wouldn’t be able to handle both sports and train for them, I pulled through and played for both.
Training early morning for football and training for basketball in the evening. Proving everyone wrong, I played for both teams at our Annual Sports fest, winning a gold medal in both!
Looking forward, I’m really determined to walk the footsteps of my father and join the Indian Air Force. However if that does not work out I plan to go abroad to study sports management.
Life is always full of ups and downs, it’s never an entirely sweet journey, but the fruits you get out of it and the end is what makes you grateful and thankful that you didn’t give up!
