I am Sunidhi Bhatnagar a student of second year of NIFT pursuing Fashion and this is my story! I graduated high school from DPS Bhopal one of the most prestigious schooling societies in India and I thought no college or any other institution would live up to that ‘DPS life’.
Since my childhood I’ve always been this quintessential onfield girl, gallivanting on the fields of my school, known for fun and frolic. Skating, swimming, basketball I tried it all at district level more so, but then I realised my fondness towards cricket. I am an ardent believer of the fact that the secret of getting ahead is getting started. Thus, I finally started pursuing my passion, and eventually with sheer hard work and consistency I ended up playing cricket for the MPCA (Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association) team in the Nationals. Other than being a sports enthusiast, I’ve always fancied art in fact
I was also successful in putting up exhibitions in several cultural theaters of Bhopal like Bharatbhavan, Ustad Bismillah Khan academy, etc..I participated in various national and international olympiads and managed to secure AIR rank 2 in International English Olympiad.
I’ve always seen myself as a fashion aspirant. Brands, styling, fashion has always been on my mind, and therefore when the time came to decide my professional field, I couldn’t think of anything else apart from Fashion and Designing and when it comes to fashion and designing, NIFT is the first thing that comes up in our minds. I decided to appear for NIFT entrance exam and cracked it in the first attempt itself and landed up at the Hyderabad campus, one of the top 5 NIFT campuses of India.
That’s when my dream college life began. From settling in with my much older roommate in a completely new metropolitan with hundreds of people with different backgrounds to managing each and everything on my own, NIFT taught me all. For me diversity is what NIFT stands for, by that I don’t just mean cultural diversity but also diversity in point of views, ways of living, thinking, and much more.
As soon as you step inside the campus, you are in a completely new world with a very accommodative atmosphere full of creative intellectuals, many times like-minded and sometimes not so much.
NIFT revamped my talent and creative abilities into something very productive, distinct, and idiosyncratic to some levels. The appreciation, I received from the established designers like Shubhika Davda Ma’am the founder of the fashion label PAPA DON’T PREACH. NIFT helped in bagging opportunities like interning with fashion brands like URBANIC in these unproductive times of the COVID-19 pandemic. I owe it all to my family, my peers, my colleagues, and my college. Everyone comes to this industry with dreams of glamour and labels and I’m definitely on the path of getting it all because all our dreams can come true only if we have the courage to pursue them and I definitely have that chutzpah.
